I’ve always been a fan of Dave Grohl. The Foo Fighters are still on my running playlist. I became a HUGE fan when I saw him and his mom interact on 60 Minutes and some late-night show. She was a public school educator and recognized he needed to break free and follow his dreams. I became an even BIGGER fan when I watched him at an award show that I can’t remember, rocking out to Deadmau5 (an EDM DJ) in his blazer and a graphic tee. Seeing Grohl support the music that wasn’t his genre and one that was generally frowned upon was absolutely inspiring. What a great way to model inclusivity and acceptance.
Foo Fighters fans will loooooove reading about his start, his insecurities, his relationship with his mom, and the crossroads he found himself at when Nirvana came to an end. And now he’s a family man supporting daughters and their musical talents. It’s packed with reflection. Honest and down to earth with clear perspectives on success, fame, and family. Well written, funny, and some cussing which is a language I understand.
